Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera (born April 4, 1957), known by the nickname "El Chapo" is a former head of the Sinaloa cartel. Guzmán's Sinaloa cartel, at the time of his arrest, was the richest and most powerful cartel in drugs from Mexico. This smuggling ring transports cocaine from Colombia through Mexico to the United States by air, sea and road, and has distribution cells throughout the US.
